The Gunslinger is useless and weapons cost way too much and do almost no damage compared to other characters.

A massive GS rant.

GS is my favorite class.  I've played it for years.  Let me show you my pains.  The Hardened Steel Shotgun should NEVER do less damage than the Goblin Revolver, because it costs part of your immortal soul to go craft in Metalworking.  Seriously, I've never had such a terrible experience doing any quest before, as I have in Metalworking.  Having to impart 1 item at a time into the forge for 12 hours or more just to get a 40% chance of crafting the hardened steel shotgun, was easily mind numbing.  Even at +9, the HS Shotgun is basically useless and does far less crit damage than a Goblin Revolver, which is plentiful and easy to buy.  HS Shotgun is super rare and usually only one or two people in months will even be selling it.

When I first made mine, I main chat talked about just making it and had over an instant 8 users who wanted to buy it from me.  Instantly.

A +9 HS Shotgun is crazy expensive, way more than a Goblin Revolver, yet the Goblin is capable of more than tripling the Crit damage of an HS Shotgun.

Even worse, the Thanatos Revolver with an Orc Combo (cheap cards) outperforms the Goblin Bow by about 15% Crit.  So for example, my Crit on Baphomet MVP will be about 55,000.

With the Thanatos Bow + Orc Combo, its 70,000.

With the +9 HS Shotgun, its 17,500.

That is absolutely wild.

Full Buster is useless, because Kiel is now on Shoes and cannot be spammed.  It does crack at 250,000-300,000 on some mvps and can one tap Samurai Spectre and the Doppleganger.  But, even with Kiel and aftercast Great Old set on, the cast time is so slow that you will absolutely die in the Epsilon MVP room or get mobbed in the blink of an eye by some others.

Desperado Thanatos Revolver is absolutely crazy good at mobbing and has value.  In fact, its way more effective than a Sniper build at mobbing (of course) but the problem is the STR levels are low and you can't carry nearly as much loot, so its a time waster and the lower damage Sniper will carry more and end result as a more effective value over the experience.

I see absolutely no value in the GS class when it deals such a low damage point and also has low strength, and is also a glass canon with low HP and defense.  The endgame Shotgun does about 25% more than my Thana Rev and costs about 2000c.  A buddy of mine just quit the game yesterday because he realized his endgame shotgun he got in the Shop is only 28% more powerful than the Thanatos Revolver with Crit damage.

We have essentially the same exact gear.

MVP examples

Samurai Spectre:

Full Buster one tap at 308,000, slow as nails

Desperado without Increasing Accuracy can 1 tap the Samurai Spec as well as all the mobs around it.

Standard Crit 28,000 with the HS Shotgun

Standard Crit with Thana Rev 31,000

Dard Lord:

Crit is 22,000 with the HS Shotgun

Crit is 37,000 with Thanatos Rev.

Full Buster, 298,000 usually the DL will kill you if you stand still and don't run and gun

Desperado using Thana Revolver easily takes out the DL and anything else too within range.

Pharoh:

Standard Crit 14,000 HS Shotgun (wow...that is nuts)

Standard Crit 29,000 with Thana Rev

Comparatively with my Sniper

Baphomet

+8 Spectra Bow 2x TG + Orc Combo actually hits significantly lower than the same box with 4x AKs.

Spectral 2TG + Orc Combo, 61,000 Critical

Spectral 4x AK, 70,000 Critical with a chance of even higher due to Vanberk card.

Thanatos Bow + Orc combo

61,000 critical

Thanatos Bow with 2 TG

58,000 critical

So the winner is the Sniper with the 4x AK card combo in standard crit build.

Drooping

Heavenly ribbon (4x Duneyrr) I use this for the speed boost

Red Neck Tie (Vanberk)

Variegated Vest (Gloom + Dex orb)

+9 Heroic Backpack (Anunaki)

Ebony Greeves (Ascendant Orc+ Dex Orb)

2 recondite rings, Harden Anvils or Pokey set (Pokey hits 1k higher in tests).  + double5 orb + dex orb

With all that in mind, the GS hits 3x lower than a Sniper with excellent gear and with extreme gear, can hit 2x lower...

Crit Builds obviously had skill resets for higher Luk and agi.

Skill Desperado and Full Buster build of course was set to have low luk and dex/str maxed.

TLDR: Buff the GS at least 2x and double after cast delay naturally for usage with the HS Shotgun so it can actually be useful.  The 30% kiel does absolutely nothing and its still ungodly slow.  If a Star Glad can 800-1m tap MVPS with Flying Kick, a GS full buster should hit 500k+ at minimum and also be spammable otherwise the class has no value at all.  Making the shotgun took a ton of time and effort and that should be rewarded.

In Ragnarok Online, upgrading and crafting high-level weapons like the +9 HS Shotgun can sometimes lead to unexpected disappointment, especially if the damage output doesn't meet expectations. Crafting such weapons involves a significant investment of time and resources, but the performance of the weapon might not always align with its visual appeal or theoretical stats.

In your case, while a +9 HS Shotgun is a considerable achievement, it is possible that the weapon's performance feels lacking when compared to other weapons or classes. This could be due to various factors, such as class mechanics, skill synergy, or specific bonuses from alternative weapons. For example, the HS Shotgun may not scale as well in damage when compared to other weapons or when used by certain classes that can optimize damage output more efficiently.

Players have experienced similar situations, where they upgraded their gear to +9 or +10, expecting a significant boost, only to find the damage difference is not as impactful as anticipated, particularly if there are no strong bonuses tied to the weapon's refinement level. As a general rule, weapon upgrades (especially past +9) are more valuable for certain weapons or builds that capitalize on those extra refinements, but not all equipment benefits equally from higher refine levels
